Novak Djokovic dominated the 2023 season by featuring in the finals of all four Grand Slams as he clinched three of them. As time passes, speculations regarding the Serb’s retirement start to spread as he is turning 37 next year.

However, even at 36, Djokovic continued to surprise the tennis fraternity as he not only won the Majors and other elusive titles, he also won them by beating the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and others.

The Serb recently appeared in an interview where he was asked the most common question: "For most athletes, their careers wind down. That doesn't seem to be happening with you. When, when will you know it's time?"

Djokovic responded to the intriguing question I saying that he doesn’t know yet but will do so soon.

“That's a very good question that I don't have an answer to,” Djokovic said. “Maybe the moment will become closer once I start not to win the grand slams and not to be able to be one of the main contenders for major titles.

“And once the young guys start kicking my butt, then I'll probably, you know, start to rethink and question whether I should keep going. But for now, it's all good.”

The 24-time Grand Slam triumphant also recognized the threat to his reign which was no other than Carlos Alcaraz, who already has two Majors, one of which he claimed by beating the Serb.

“He's as complete of a player as I have seen in ages,' said Djokovic.

He also added that watching Alcaraz win the US Open while he was barred from the tournament spurred him on.

“Yes it was,' he said. 'You're right because that p***ed me off so much that I needed to win everything on American soil, which I did.

“It's a great opportunity for me to reinvent myself and really push harder than I ever did.”

It is worth noting that Djokovic’s 24 Grand Slam titles consist of 10x Australian Open, 7x Wimbledon, 4x US Open, and 3x Roland Garros.
